Scholarships
The United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) offers scholarships to lineal descendants of Confederate soldiers and sailors who
fought honorably during the War Between the States. The lineage must be
straight-line lineal (i.e., great grandfather, great-great grandfather),
as opposed to a collateral line (i.e., great uncle, second cousin, etc.).
A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required to apply.
The scholarship application process begins annually in November with the publication of the official scholarship brochure listing the
available scholarships. The South Carolina Division of the UDC offers
scholarships to residents of our state for use in state schools, colleges and universities. The deadline for submission of
South
Carolina Division scholarship applications is June 1 of each year.
The General Organization of UDC offers scholarships on a national basis to
those seeking higher education in the United States. The deadline for
submission of General scholarship applications is April 15 of
each year. Information can be obtained at http://www.hqudc.org/.
Students who apply for scholarships through the South Carolina Division
are required to comply with published rules. Our objective is to offer
educational assistance to descendants of Confederate Soldiers.
