The UDC year ended on August 31, 2007 and over all we had a good year. We did not loose any Chapters and gained a CofC Chapter!

Our Division Convention was held in Newberry and other than the dreaded steps up to the meeting room, it went very well. Thanks to the Ridge District for their usual great job. Next year Central District will be in charge and we are trying to find a hotel as we speak.

I will be off to Rogers, Arkansas on November 3rd, and will have a lot to tell when I return. General Convention is always a lot of work, but a lot of fun too. If you have never been, go next year; it will be in Richmond at the Omni Hotel and Convention Center.

Now that the weather is cooling down, get out and start working on UDC projects. Plan a marker dedication, an event for Robert. Edward Lee’s birthday and Jefferson Davis’ birthday for 2008.

Please make plans to attend your District Meeting. This is the time for Chapters to tell about their work and for questions to the Officers. Last year we held open forum meetings and I think they went well. I hope to do the same this year. Please come and support your District. It is also election time, so when the nominating committee contacts you about a District office, say YES!! What a better way to learn than to serve.

It is also never too early to be thinking about serving on the Division Level as an Officer. More on that will be coming soon from Mrs. Marlene Baber, Chairman of the Nominating Committee.
